Directory Assistance
Local and National Directory Assistance is provided to subscribers by the telephone companies to aid in the retrieval of destination numbers.
State Government Directory Assistance Service assists the general public as well as state agencies by providing the following information:
- State of Louisiana government telephone numbers
- Dialing instructions
- Names of department heads and other state officials
- Assistance in identifying the appropriate state agency
Telephone numbers not listed in the Louisiana State Government Telephone Directory or the public telephone directory can be made available to the public through the State Government Directory Assistance Operators. OTS/NS can only include these numbers if the appropriate information is provided by the agency Telecommunications Coordinator.
When a state telephone number is disconnected, the caller receives a disconnect recording. The caller may reach out to the State Government Directory Assistance Service to obtain the new main number for the agency. When warranted, specific numbers may be provided. Alternatively, the service may provide the telephone number for a different location or program as appropriate. OTS/NS can only include these numbers if the appropriate information is provided by the agency Telecommunications Coordinator.
