The Claims unit oversees all first-party and third-party claims for the state. The unit is divided into several subsections, listed below.
This unit handles claims covering the legal liability for the State of Louisiana arising out of occurrences resulting in injuries or property damage to others that do not involve licensed vehicles, as well as certain obligations of others assumed under contract. These coverages include premises and operations, completed operations and products liability, elevator and escalator liability, personal injury, watercraft liability, contractual liability, wrongful acts, errors and omissions (professional liability), public officials (directors and officers or educational liability), custodial, garage keepers legal liability, foster parents, protective liability, and fire damage legal liability.

This unit handles claims concerning cyber liability issues. The Office of Risk Management has facilitated a commercial insurance policy for the Office of Technology Services (OTS)-managed agencies and higher education institutions which will provide for cyber liability coverage.
Cyber liability provides coverage for security breaches of electronic data including personally identifiable, non-public information while in the control of and managed by a state agency. Personally identifiable information includes but is not limited to social security numbers, dates of birth and driver's license numbers. The policy covers a variety of expenses associated with security breaches, including but not limited to privacy breach counsel, forensic IT services, notification costs and credit monitoring expense.
State agencies seeking to file a cyber liability claim should report directly to Phelps Dunbar at cyber.notice@phelps.com or through their 24/7 hotline at 833.229.1647.

This unit handles claims of medical malpractice against those performing medical services on behalf of the state.
Medical malpractice claims should be reported by contacting Roberto Reyes.
This unit handles claims of damage to state property assets. This includes buildings, contents, equipment breakdown, employee bond and crime losses.
Property claims should be reported using the form below, which should be e-mailed to 6410StateOfLouisiana@sedgwickcms.com or faxed to 855.563.2447.

This unit handles claims of incidents arising from hazardous roads maintained by the state's Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).

This unit handles claims from State employees who are injured on the job. ORM provides Workers' Compensation coverage for employees of all covered State agencies.
