Wireless Devices
Wireless Devices
A smartphone is a device with service that is supported on multiple vendor networks and provides wireless synchronization to the user's desktop for email, contacts and calendar. Smartphone service provides access to the internet through browsers and intranet-based applications. A smartphone can also support cellular service (refer to Wireless Telephone Service). Smartphone devices and service are available to state agencies through Western States Contracting Alliance contracts. Agencies may work directly with the state's WSCA contract vendors to determine needs and select appropriate equipment and service.
With ActiveSync, users can access and synchronize state email, calendar and contacts between the Exchange email server and the device. Instructions for the ActiveSync Activation for the Smartphone may be available from the device or service vendor. If assistance is needed setting up ActiveSync on the device, contact the OTS EUC Help Desk. The EUC Help Desk may forward the request to the Email team for handling.
For cellular service, refer to Wireless Telephone Service.
